How to prevent Suspend?
« on: August 01, 2004, 04:46:33 pm »
Hi all,

I'm running the 3.13rom on SL-5500 and I need to prevent the system screen saver and suspend from kicking in when the Z is under power.

I am running gpsd and zRoadmap connected to a Bluetooth GPS via /dev/rfcomm0 and the Z will be under power. This setup will be used on a motorcycle for navagating and works fine except that every time the screensaver kicks in it kills the Bluetooth connection to gpsd which requires running a bunch of commands that I could add to the suspend-resume system that tumnus developed to kill and restart everything. BUT the bottom line is I don't want it to suspend when this is running.

Anyone have any ideas?

I tried qpe-suspendapplet_1.5.0-3_arm.ipk but that does not seem to do anything on my system with 3.13 roms.

It would be nice to be able to check if my setup is running and abort a suspend event.

I will be writing a script to lauch this application setup, because I have to start up the bluetooth stuff, then start gpsd and finally start zRoadmap. I could easily touch a file and then see if the file exists to abort the suspend. and have a kill script to clean everything up, but this seems messy. I also thought about hacking zRoadmap source to set whatever needs to be set to prevent suspends and restore it on exit if I knew what needed to be set.

Anyone have any ideas?
SL-5500, ROM 3.13
2.4.18-rmk-pxa3-embedix from Sharp
bluez-zarus v2.3-2.4.18d
