SL 6000 Owners!

There is an apparent contradiction between the Ian Giblin and Lisa Grade reviews of the SL-6000.

Ian Giblin says you can zoom in/out from 20%-400% and choose weather
 **"to render images or not"**.

This tells me I would be able to zoom in on images on a web page with the SL-6000.

Lisa Grade says that only text is zoomable and the only zoomable images are the icons .

Being that the screen is so smalll, and this wil be my only web access, I need to know the truth here.

Can someone , preferably an SL6000 owner, tell me weather or not web images are " zoomable" or can be "magnified".

P.S. I like the clamshell designs better but I  need english operating manuals as i only have webtv experence [ zero experience].

QKVCS - if the english manual is your only reason to not get a C-series then don't bother. I believe i have an english version somewhere, but the information is useless anyways...  so start considering which one you want again 6000 / c860...  i did. There are a lot of reviews around comparing both side by side.

like i posted before --it's only gonna be for web consumption --so it's self explanatory enough for my needs not to require an english manual?

the + part of the 6000 is

1. ruggedization --an actual drop safe pda!

2. superior screen

3. english

unrelated question --the front lit 5600 screen --it is said to be "dim"

if i just shne a lamp on it's face it should brighten up since it is " front-lit"  ...no?
sort of "poor man's" brite screen!  hahaa

p.s. I have an EL-509A SHARP scientific calculator
  it is about 15 years old --I paid $10 for it,I only replaced the battery once --it has been dropped / smashed between books n a bookbag etc --too many times to remember--it still functions flawlesly --and I got all A's with it in college .

I don't read manuals... or Japanese. But I did look at a lot of documentation while eagerly awaiting my C860 (which got lost by the courier for 6 six weeks!).

Regarding the 6000: since i bought my c860 instead, i'm damn sure going to stand up for it. The screen on my machine is fantastic.  I'm not sure about a drop safe pda.....  sounds questionable, to be nice about it.

My C860 is 100% good english. I have Cacko since i got it, so this is sharps stuff, without japenese and loads of improvements.  The 6000 has no other roms available for it apart from the original whereas the C860 has pdaxrom which is a full minilaptop linux distro.

Regarding the manual, i'm sure it's just stuff like charging and stuff so it's not going to help you setup your computer. But when you get it, charge it and switch it on.  Better yet, get it from here like i did, and ask the person selling it to put Cacko on it for you, and you'll be in perfect english from the switch on - you also can ask if there are any dead pixels to make sure (with a new one you take a chance!)

besides, this is linux with all its documentation - and let's not forget the holy ZUG.

web consumption is one of the main things I do with my SL-6000.  HAving used both a SL-C700 and my 6k I find the 6000 has the better screen of the two and the d-pad makes it easy for me to surf the net.  I almost always uses my 6k in landscape mode with the d-pad under my left thumb to navage pages.  The only real complant I have about opera is that I have nto figure out how to uses it to connect to my outlook webmail at work.  Other then that I have been able to surf to almost any website I have wanted to go to.

This is one thing I can say the 6k is.  I have dropped mine at least 30 times in the two months I have owned my 6k.  SO far no problems.  Most of my drops have been from my desktop to the floor(Office Carpet) though a few there when I was sitting out side and the Z hit concrete and so far the only scrachs are ont he clear protective cover(Yess I keeo the cover on when I am not using the clean)

2. superior screen

Having used a sl-c700 and my sl-6000 I would say the screen is the best I have every seen.  I have been able to uses my outside at the lowest light setting.  It is a litte dark but not that bad it si not usable.

3. english

I would have to agree here with any of the c people in that it is nto hard to flash a c with pdaxrom or cacko and have a pure english rom...then the only thing in jp is the menus used for flashing new roms.

there is a nice glare on the screen if you shine a lite straight at it or if the sun is shining straight down on it.
