today application with Sharp ROM
« on: August 26, 2004, 05:22:57 am »
Is anyone using the today application with the Sharp ROM ?

I used to use it, in the days before OPIE but now for various reasons I am using Sharp ROM 3.13.

I installed the today ipk following the instructions on myzaurus.com; it works but I guess it's looking for OPIE format data as none of my appointments or tasks show up.

Is there another application that will do the same job or a work around ?

I may have dreamt this, but I'm sure I saw some Trolltech documentation on writing today plugins. In that case, is there a standard interface to access the files: I might write my own simple version of today.

thanks

Sharp uses a propriertary database format called DTM for its PIM applications, which is why Today cannot access the data.

OPIE Today is different from Trolltech's Today application as far as I know, so the plugins may be different. Still, you can write new plugins for OPIE Today for the DTM databases and several applications such as KO/PI should have examples of accessing the DTM data.
