v15 special kernel success on 5600
« on: September 23, 2004, 11:57:10 am »
I just wanted to let you guys know that I have the v15 "Special Kernel" running on my 5600.

I used the SL-B500 kernel and did an upgrade from the boot prom menu and it works great.  It seems that poodle and poodle-j are the same hardware.

It replaces the gay sharp logo with a tiny tux in the upper left hand corner and displays the kernel boot messages.  Its alot nicer to actually see whats being loaded vs the damn sharp logo with blinding bright white background.

The Xscale eratta is turned off, preemptive patches are turned on.

Ive been running this for a few weeks and no problems.

You can download it from:

http://tetsu.homelinux.org/zaurus/kernel/v...ge-v15-B500.bin
SL5600 custom tkrom
WCF12, CF686TX, Ambicom GPS, Targus Universal Keyboard

I used it (before switching to OZ 3.5.1) since it's out. What was your problem ?
SL-6000L : kexecboot and ArmedZed (on SD) & OpenZaurus/Opie (on flash)

I had been using the 1.4b kernel for some time and it was working wonderfully ::: :  I updated to the 1.4c today, and that works as well :::

Does the 5600 even benefit from the faster lib?   Since it's optimized for the 640x480 dispaly size of the 6000 .. does it mean it will be faster for the smaller 5600 as well?

Do you over clock your Z?     I always have and no stability problems. 471 peak.

I think I might need to check out this upgrade.

btw::

this might make some more sense
