Also, I\'m sure I read somewhere you could actually kill the qtopia session and sun x without. Was not explained properly or anything, just said it could be done.

If you do this then you get power problems (the same with GPE unfortunately) which mean that the cursor can randomly turn your Z off, and if you use the on/off key you need to reset to turn back on.

What apps have you managed to get running ?

I regularly run gnuplot and Xcas/giac. I\'ve not really had any call for anything else so just didn\'t bother.

Tried a couple and just got dependance problems.

Are these apps for the Cacko X11 ROM? What were the dependency problems? Bear in mind that the XFree86 package is a base X install without any of the widget sets which Cacko and co. might be using.

Yes from the Cacko X11 ROM. I know I was being optimistic, but thought I\'d try anyway.

Would have loved to have access to programs like Gnumeric and still have access to pims, outlook sync. etc.

With keypebble offering nice screen sizing options, would allow access to full application. X11 ROM runs on native 640x480 so always trying to get to bit of invisible dialog by flipping between landscape and portrait.

I\'m sure X11 ROM will improve over coming weeks, just want everything now

I\'ll have a look at it. It may be possible to just install the dependencies. Give me a few days.

Hmm, unfortunately the latest version of keypebble (from the 3.3.5 feed), which offers screen zooming in/out, doesn\'t seem to work with a localhost server. I\'m still using an old version which doesn\'t allow zooming.

Simon,
have you tried this http://pocketworkstation.org/fbvnc.html.

it supports on the fly zooming as well as on the fly rotation.

I use it all the time on my 5500, the only problem is that you have to shutdown qtopia for it to work.  This shouldn\'t ne a problem for the x stuff which requires this anyway.

I think it blows keypebble away for speed and functionality. it has good support for thre button mouse emulation etc.

I use it to remote control my xp box to play mp3 files through my HIFI.

it is fantastic at parties, as you can wander round asking people what they want to hear, then you can instabtly play it for them.

OZ 3.3.5 doesn\'t like letting go. In fact it\'s a real pain to get to the root terminal, so no I don\'t use this (though I have done in the past). I am however able to run X stuff using VNC (and it\'s sufficient for my current needs).

Thanks for the tip though. If people really want to use X apps then Pocketworkstation is probably the best way to go; I only occasionally use X apps, and don\'t want to have to give up my CF/MMC card to that end, so I do it my way.

In any case how is the OZ support for the pocketworkstation X distro?
