alright, i'm already pretty much tired of the un-supercomputeryness of the ROM/RAM split on my 6k. I've been installing everything i can to sd, but today while trying to get xqt working (i just took everyone's word that they had to be installed internally) the last package gave me the dreaded "not enough memory to complete action." Sure enough when i checked there was only 2Mb left internally. After a frenzy of uninstalling EVERYTHING (except kismet, gaim, and irk, the only packages that took what i would call "a lot of work" to set up) because there is no way to check where it is installed easily, I still only have 11 Mb internally. I even made sure to delete everything that had been stored as documents. I suppose the next step to get more space is to duplicate and then symlink to every folder you can on the sd, but that's a little silly, because it only gives me more space for internal programs, so the only real advantage is decreaced read/write cycles i suppose.
in a perfect world, i would be able to use internal memory as ram... and have the full tree on my sd. it's possible to do this on an 860 with pdaxrom right?
my old hp 320lx had only 4Mb internal memory, but at least i could allocate how much was ram in real time...
anyway, shun me if you must... especially if you're reading this on a 5x00 and think i'm a spoiled brat
