Can't Flash To Cacko
« on: January 05, 2006, 09:44:12 am »
My C1000 keeps just rolling into a normal startup when I follow these directions found on this page:
1. Extract the 3 files - initrd.bin tools.tar updater.sh - to the root of your CF or SD/MMC card.
    2. Make sure that Zaurus isn't plugged into AC power.
    3. Remove battery for at least 5 seconds.
    4. Replace battery (replace battery cover, lock cover), plug in AC power.
    5. Press and hold the "OK" button on the keyboard.
    6. Turn the power on, you should see the Japanese service menu.
    7. Now Plug in the Power Cord. (You will get an error if it isn't plugged in!)
    8. Select option 4 (flash/update).

Now I also tried holding the "OK" button before putting the battery back in and before connecting the AC power but it STILL just rolls into the normal startup.

I've searched the board and tried all the solutions I found.   None of them work.  Is there something I'm missing here?

Can't Flash To Cacko

Finally got it to work by pressing reset and holding "OK" button with just my fingernail (maybe I was accidentally pressing around the rocker switch??).

No partitioning option came up.  #5 is a disclaimer notice and does not partition.
After it seems to go through a flash routine,  it asks to partition...so I said yes...hope this works.

The steps as listed on the Cacko hints and tips don't sorrespond to what actually happens.

Okay,  success.  Now to configure my Sandisk Connectplus card.  The link in the Cacko FAQ does not work to the explanation page and I don't understand this "hex" business.
Can I just install the following file to get it to work?
prism3-firmware_1.8.3-r2_arm.ipk
Do I need to install:
hostap-utils_0.3.7-r0_arm.ipk
prism3-support_1.0.0-r0_arm.ipk

Thanks for your patience with a total ditz.
