Shiny New Packages
« on: December 01, 2004, 11:51:48 pm »
I hate for this to sound like im just complaining, as I am very appreciative of the release, but I have noticed that some of the packages (mostly games) dont work, or are slow.

Abuse (though listed in opie/games) requires libsdl.x11.  Even if installed forcibly, it wont run.

Mplayer performs noticably worse than the comparatively ancient  (OZ3.2) xmms-embedded.sourceforge.net version.  Some movies that are playable on the old Mplayer wont display in the scaled down xmms portrait view.  And run from the command line, (mplayer -zoom -framedrop movie.avi) it goes out of sync very fast.

Anyone find any fixes?

I'd guess this is a dependency mistake in one or other direction. What does Abuse itself link against (ldd) - i.e. is it X11 or Opie. If it's Opie, you could try installing the Opie version of SDL and force-depends installing Abuse.
