Where Is The Overclocking Download 4 The 6000?
« on: November 28, 2004, 06:04:50 am »
 In the following thread:
Debian with Xqt

Smuelas has a link you can follow that gives directions on how to get Debian running on top of the Sharp Rom.  If you follow that link he makes this statement at the bottom of his page:

Quote
"Finally I will say that yesterday evening I installed the kernel "retouched" to go up to 530Mh. and found in Zaurus User Group, with no problems at all running Xqt and Debian."
Quote

I have searched all of the ZUG forums and Downloads areas to no avail.

Where can I find it, does it do/undo anything else besides overclocking, and are there any compatibility issues?

I'm dying to overclock my 6000!

Many Many Thanks in advance!

Oh and thanks smuelas for that killer thread, haven't done it yet but I intend to try it this week.

Sorry kmeaw that link is dead to me.  I'll try it again tomorrow, maybe the site is just having problems.  If anyone else knows another place I can get it I'm still looking.....

Thanks,

I just wasted about a half hour typing a post that somehow got lost in never never land when I finished it...ah well here goes another try!

I finally got the link to work just fine for me.  After reading everything I can get my hands on I am completely intimidated and have more questions than when I started. Here are a few of them-

1. After reflashing how do you control how the overclocking is set? Utility or is it done through the console?
2. What other things does the new flash do for you other than enable overclocking?
3. Does installing this flash create any incompatibilities or problems with other programs/ devices etc.? I have found an old thread that lists a bunch of problems such as the wireless breaking after flashing to the new one, have these things been fixed?
4. Those of you who have used the new flash are you completely pleased and still using it or have you switched back?
5.  Have YOU used it and what reason do you use it for? (btw saying- because I can! is a completely acceptable reason to me but Id like to hear you elaborate some.)

Im scared stupid to do this flash and accidentally brick my 6000L.  I do have a backup 6k but I dont wanna have to pull it out of the closet just because I was stupid and threw several hundred dollars away in a careless moment.  It seems like a LOT of ppl have had problems and bricked or almost bricked their Tosas...please say something to me  that will make me feel more confident about doing this!

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Using it daily. If you only flash the kernel, you need to insmod the p80211 and prism2usb modules by hand before wireless works. That's the only issue I have.

Search on externe.net/zaurus where I present which applet I use to control overclocking (ie downclock on low battery, overclock for snes9x etc)
