Using A Cf Card

Any thing that has to do with my CF card using the OZ Opie ROM 3.5.2 is incredibly slow. What could be the cause of this? Is it something I've done maybe? My CF card is formatted for ext2.

OZ 3.5.x mounts your CF card "sync", which means it doesn't use a cache to write to the card.
While write are terrible slow, it gives some sort of data-loss protection.
