Watching videos on the sl-c860
« on: January 10, 2004, 05:55:25 pm »
Hello! I\'ve just purchased a sl-c860, and I\'m having trouble with playback of video.

I may be being extremely thick, but although I have no trouble playing the sample.asf video on the included software, I cannot get any other video to be recognised.

Can anyone help????

For other movie formats you might want to try Kino2: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1310

I haven\'t tried it as I don\'t have a SL-Cxxx Zaurus (though I wish I did)

Kino2 works well with divx, but on the clamshell the sharp movie player is better. But the files end up a little bigger.

I think it is down to the fact that the wmv files use less compression, so require less cpu to de-compress.

Also the sharp player has been written to work on the clamshell models from the ground up, so may be more efficient.

Maybe if we could read the japanese manual, there may be some clues in there, but there again maybe not.

If you want to try divx, download the kino2 player and see this site for the best way to decode divx files for PDA\'s

Kino2 provides much better performance in full screen mode FYI.  I\'m watching 320x240 DivX on my c860 at 24FPS.

I haven\'t noticed any issue with audio sync in Kino2.  I\'ve watched the whole of spider-man in full screen mode and there was never any noticeable issue.  If you are not watching in full screen it\'s a bit sub par.
