To Extract Battery
« on: February 09, 2005, 06:42:22 am »
Hi,
Help me please.
I upgrade  my zaurus with a new rom and I copied updater.sh, initrd.bin, zImage.bin on my SD card.
these are the steps I followed:
I reset the zaurus ,
I Closed the battery cover, and move the Lock Switch to the Lock position
I Pressed ON Key while pressing OK key
I Selected "4. Update" by using cursor keys and push OK key
I selected Sd medium
I saw the Zaurus updater which display percentage of kernel and flash (initrd) update
At 100% Zaurus tell me the success of update and reboot.

At this point Zaurus is off, but It doesn't reboot . It remain off . I tried to push any button (on/off) for first but it remains off.

After this I extracted the battery and put it newly. What happens if the battery is extracted?

I tried to update with my old rom on CF card, but I have the same result. Zaurus seems died.

Help me . I don't know what can I do.

First off what machine are you using?

If's its a cxxx machine, there is a switch on the back.
Gorgeous C860, 256 Sandisk SD, 1Gig Pretec 40x CF, PDAIR leather case & the really cool retractable iPDA USB sync/charge cable. Powered by PDAXROM BETA 1.

My wish - to have a Command & Conquer style game on my Z! (FREECNC!!!) Simcity 2000 would also be great.

A hard reset. Make sure they power cable isn't attached though if you want to do a hard reset (I'd try this now).

When you start it up again you may need to hold down the on/off switch (on the back/outside, not the Home key on the inside) for a fairly long time until it boots. It may also boot with the back-light off (it'll come on once it wakes up) so you can't actually see that it's alive.

i had teh same problems, i downloaded cacko 1.16 to 1.18 roms, and those never loaded. The OPIE roms loaded ok, but i used the latest rom from cacko the 1.22 and now my zaurus is working perfect.

I'm using zaurus sl5600, cacko rom is not for sl5600.

I can upgrade to sharp rom or opie 3.5.2 and from cf or sd card .  THis is what appens and what I saw:

ZAurus CF updater
RO file systms
Flash erasing ..dine
0%                     100%
...........................
success
....
rebooting.

The screen go off and at this point zaurus is died. I press on/off button but zaurus doesn't up.
I can only reset and to repeat the same operation to upgrade.
