Sync With English Intellisync ?
« on: February 09, 2005, 09:58:37 pm »
I never did get my 3K to sync with the english intellisync files from trisoft. I'm syncing okay with the japanese software; but I rather not.

Did anyone get thier 3K to sync with the english software?

It looks like Trisoft recently published very detailed instructions for using english intellisync with SL-C3000:

Yep, you're right. That IntelliSync issue was really not funny.
The joke is, that it worked on my system like described in our
manual. Must've been pure luck, cause on that PC there're
drivers for every Zaurus ever build   .

On a clean Windows XP installation we were able to reproduce
the problems and with the hints from Shirtpocket and other users
we tested the mixture of japanese / english IntelliSync what works
fine.

So, as a first workaround, proceed like shown in the c3000sync file.
All screenshots were taken during the test, resulting in working sync.
And sorry for the sometimes german dialog boxes, i have no english
XP Professionell here.

Sync With English Intellisync ?

Hello Everyone,

I am an ESL university professor in Korea. Recently I went to Japan and saw the Zaurus and fell in love with it....needless to say, I bought it after finding out that it could be changed to the English Language. I brought it back to Korea, found the mcconvert program to change it to English, loaded it up onto my CF card, and then turned the ZAURUS into an English system.

Then, after I found this site, I found out about the C3000sync zip file and instructions, so I followed them, and I have not been able to get past the Telnet screenshot (the one that says "open 192.168.129.201" and I get a message that says "Unable to connect using port 23"

Unfortunately, I bought this machine without knowing about Dynamism or any of the other companies that do all of the converting, and documenting. I am still really enthusiastic about this fine computer, but I have never been able to make the Intellisync work.

What can I do? am I stuck with transferring everything via compact flash for the rest of forever? Do I need to revert back to the japanese version of the machine before doing all the sync work? Am I missing something? I am feeling very isolated about this right now.

please.....HELP!!!!!!

I have found syncing to be a little tricky on the C3000. If you can't ping the C3000 from your Windows PC, sync will not work. You need to make sure a Zaurus NDIS device shows up in your device manager under network devices once the Zaurus is connected. If it is not showing up, try disconnecting the USB cable, turning off the zaurus for a minute and then reconnecting and turning on the zaurus.

You also need to make sure both the Zaurus Manager on your PC and the Zaurus itself are set for USB-TCP/IP Advanced. I have found that I needed to switch the Zaurus Manager to USB - I/O (default) and then back to USB - TCP/IP Advanced to get it to "reset."

You may also need to reinstall the Zaurus device driver from the Zaurus CD. This can be accomplished by going into device manager, choosing the Zaurus device from the network adapters list, selecting properties, driver and then choosing uninstall (assuming it shows up). It will only show up when the Zaurus is connected. You can then disconnect the Zaurus. Once it is reconnected, you can reinstall the driver, when asked, from the CD.

Also - make sure you don't have a personal firewall or Windows TCP/IP filtering enabled. It may be blocking the traffic.

One other thing - make sure you properly stop the Zaurus USB connection from Windows using the "unplug or eject hardware" task bar icon before you physically disconnect the Zaurus.

Good luck (I swear - it really does work)!
