Socket has released a new version of the 6004 low-pwer cf wifi card. When you say the \"lights\" have never come on that makes me think you have the new version of the card, as the old version has only one light. Also from the socket site: \"The driver/utility software for the older version is NOT compatible with the newer version\".

Let us know if your card has two lights on it. It would be interesting to see if new card work with the Z.

yes my card is the new one with two lights.  Maybe someone can compile a sharp-based kernel for it using the newest Orinoco driver?

HELP! - Socket wifi card locks up my 5600

I\'m in the market for a wifi card and the Socket looks like it\'s the best bet.  The question is 6000 or 6004?  I\'m running a Linux partition on my desktop machine, so compiling a custom kernel doable.  If all it really takes is compiling a kernel with the newest Orinoco drivers, then I\'ll grab the new one.  Are the Orinoco drivers the only thing that needs to be changed or would I need to write new software?  Any thoughts to steer me the right way?

Thanks for the help
