i was noticing that the forums had been a little slow in the past week which lead me to thinking about what exactly we all do for a living. so i ask now, what is your profession?

also please dont limit yourself to just what your profession is but feel free to share anything about yourself that you want to tell.

i am an IT student at west virginia university at parkersburg and am current working a tempory job for the summer at an allegany energy power plant, pleasants power station, doing lan admin and various tech support jobs. i have to say i am ready to go back to school though. only about another month and it will be that time again.

   I live in Mexico graduated on System Engenering, at work i am System/Solutions Architect and work defining techonologies, architectures and on research and development of new solutions. Normaly I travel across my country with diferent clients and diferent proyects.

My first \'computer\' was a PB2000C from Casio (Pocket pc with 32Kb of Ram and programmed in C) arround 1990/91 and then a Commodore 64, i go to the apple world using Apple IIe and Mac Classic I, Mac II and IIIc on 1992 and start using Apple UX (AUX was nice  ). On 1993 moved to PC world with an Generic AT 386 DX2 with Xenix  . On 1994-95 meet linux (slackware) and perl and the Web, also i put my hands on a Sparc 5 with Solaris 2.6 (since then i love Solaris as much as Linux), on 1996 i get my hands on an DEC Alpha 150 with OSF/1 and then in 1997 a SGI running Irix (Indy 500), currently i work with Sun, HP and Tandem machines (yep they are still here with Cobol and everything) with Solaris, Linux, HPUX, Irix and with IBM AS/400 boxes, Windows 2000 and .Net (my primary work is Solutions Architect with diferent technologies). I first use Windows on 1996 and DOS on 1994, but i use Unix like OS since 1992/93 so i learn *nix first  . My first language C (1990), second ASM for x86 and M6805, third C++, then Progress, Lisp, Cobol, Prolog, Perl, Phyton, PHP finally Java and XML, last language C#. I get my zaurus on Dec 2002.

I\'m an IT project manager for a large retailer.  My specialty is around the Supply Chain.  I\'ve been with this company for 5 years now, and prior to that I studied Criminal Justice and Political Science, with the intention to go to law school.  

My current project is now keeping me quite busy during the day.  For a while it was pretty slow at work, so I was able to work on the site much more during the day as well at night.  Now I\'m barely on during the day, and do what I can to catch up at night.

Other than that, I have a spouse and a dog (boxer-rotweiller mix), with whom I spend much of my \"down time\" with..... although not as much since I got my first Z!

I recently graduated from college with BS in computer science and minor in telecomm. I started working @ AXA Financial in July of this year. Right now I\'m in the Command Center/Network Control dept. of AXA. I monitor cisco routers and switches and the network connections. I\'m working on getting my CCNA.. hopefully soon..

My first Z was a 5000D back in Dec 02 and shortly after, I found a good deal on ebay for the 5500.. I tinkered around with the Z but I sold both about a few months later. I was looking at the C700 which i finally got in June of this year. I want to try to get GPS working on my Z.. Just need to find the right receiver and get the Z setup for it.

I dont know much about *nix but I have taken a course in school on unix, so I get the basics.. I\'m trying to learn on my off time with my Z and Linux box (which currently has RedHat .. I\'m hoping to get Gentoo working..)

I\'m a PhD student in Human Genetics.  I got hooked on linux during my undergrad days and decided to get a CS minor.  I do cancer research most of the time, but I code part of our departments web pages and maintain a small cluster of mixed linux & BSD boxes as well.  In my spare time I try and figure out why the hell some of the.ipk files I want won\'t install on my 5600   Aside from that, I think my Z is the best thing since sliced bread.
