Navite Kernel Compilation Environment
« on: July 10, 2005, 09:35:53 am »
I've been trying for the past 2 months to set up a working environment to compile the 2.4.20 kernel for my C3000. Yes i know about crosscompiling, I want a navite environment for this.

The main setup i'm using is a chrooted debian with gcc 2.95, and binutils 2.15. When i compile the kernel still It errors out and says i need binutils greater then 2.9 to compile a 2.4 kernel.

has anyone gotten past this point yet? if you have an idea and need build logs please post and i'll put them up as well.

Thanks - Realm

in a highly uinrelated comment....

I've tried kernels I compiled for my 6000 on pdax. None of them can open a terminal for some reason.
I haven't got the pdax source or patches..if that is even the problem. do you?  I looked here to see if you had maybe acquired a pdax patched source tarball.

honestly cross-compiling sounds like it would at least hurt less.

Maybe it will be easier to go native on kernel 2.6... since you'd only need one compiler?

I think those are getting fixed.
weird, though.. I installed the one I posted awhile back, and his, uncomiled by me.... both times I got..could not open terminal.  If you want to persue it further, there is a post in the guylhem rom therad about his use of keyboard fixes for qtopia.... maybe if you don't use his keyboard optimisations it would go ok?

did you use the usual cross compiling stuff, or pdaxrom stuff?
