Serial Port On 6000l
« on: July 14, 2005, 10:40:14 am »
What is the name of the serial port on the Zaurus 6000L with
openembedded?

When trying to run gpsd-dev, the first thing in the install
file says to:

  stty -F /dev/ttyXXX ispeed 4800 && cat < /dev/ttyXXX

I've tried that with every device listed in /dev/tty*, but
nothing shows up.  What is the name of the serial port on the
Zaurus?  Does the serialio.com gps unit work with that
combination of s/w and h/w?

The led on the gps unit blinks, which indicates that it is
powered up and has a position, so that much seems to be working.

Is there an tcpdump/ethereal for serial ports that can be used
to diagnose this problem?

Yes.  Thanks, but  nojoy.

The gps vendor says to reboot and go into run mode 4
from the menu
  q (x): Qtopia
  a (e): Linux Console
  r (e): init 4 (ttyS0:terminal)
  t (e): init 5 (ttyS0:-free-)

However, this seems to be for the Sharp rom, and
the openzaurus rom did not have that option.  Are
there different runlevels that support/don't support
the serial port?

dunno. Ther shouldn't be... serial is pretty ancient and basic...  I have used serial gps w/ a guylhem kernel & usb>serial adapter, if that helps (you can get one that works from serialio.com).  was planning to try in pdaxrom.  Haven't done much with OZ lately. Sorry I don't know anything of more use.
