I do have one question... I read a post dated 7-21-05 that your akita screen-tap and key-click sounds where broken in that CVS snapshot of libopie2 and this snapshot appears to be 7-24-05, do your sounds work now? I still have no key or screen-tap clicks... it's no big problem, but I miss them.
So did I    The solution is simple: just install opie-qss and reboot (thanks mickeyl!)
Thanks Mickey

Hi all

You can find a new Hentges ROM RC here: http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/

Collie: Now ships with the new "r21" kernel, fixing all suspend/resume bugs
Poodle:
Akita: This is the long awaited updated Akita image. It fixes most bugs of the OZ 3.5.3 Akita snapshot.
Please test!

Happy flashing

CoreDump:

You're the greatest!  I had fun turning my collie on and off after your flash with NO PROBLEMS.  What a relief.
I had the "what do you want to do with this card" problem and worked around it ...very ungracefully.
I had some apps that acted like they weren't symlinked - OpieMail, FTPOpie, and others said "could not find application", GAIm didn't start, etc.  but after I ran a line in the console to link everything to the media/card,  all worked.
Doom runs great...I got out of that room I was stuck in before...I need cheats though because I am so lame at playing it.

I even managed to install Zbedic again and had saved my old zbedic.conf file so that it found the dictionaries.

Merci beaucoup!  Wonderful work.

Testing is always welcome
Please report any bugs or oddities you encounter.
You need to modify your prboom.sh to include the poodle for -height 240... sorry I forgot to tell you this the last time. Should I report this to Opie bugs?

A question on CardFS. . .

How does it handle partitioned SD cards?  I was thinking about partitioning my SD card into three, one for Documents (formatted vfat, to share with WinXP systems), one for OZ/Hentges (formatted ext2), and one for pocketworkstation (also formatted ext2).

My question is can CardFS handle these, and if so, is there any particular order in which I should partition it?  (i.e. CardFS partition first).  I'm working under the assumption that using fstab I can make sure the Documents and pocketworkstation go where they're supposed to.

TIA. . .

Cardfs installs into the partition mounted as /media/card, it doesn't care for any additional partitions.

All seems to be going well on the collie, except....

1) I keep seeing a message on the taskbar every so often, "Error - Folder could not be initialised" (or something like that)

2) i booted into non-GUI mode and did an "ipkg upgrade" - it installed a few things. i rebooted and now all my ipkg sources are gone !!!

nothing in ipkg.conf and only arch,.conf in /etc/ipkg

Any chance someone could paste the src's ?

Hi,

Installed your image onto my C1k... I really like everything you've done, great job.  I usually run a custom image I build but I might switch to yours or have mine inherit from yours, not sure which yet.

I was really happy to see usb host mode working... I was able to plug in my mp3 player and it was recognized and mounted immediately.  Pretty sweet.

Have you seen anything strange with the on/off button?  Instead of suspending when I push it while the device is on, it seems to almost switch to a non-existent VT.  I get a blank screen with a cursor in the upper-left, but if I ssh into the device and "chvt 2" it goes back to opie.

On an Akita, I'm not sure what the altboot install gives me... I guess I'll search around for altboot.  Is this something I can use to (someday) fire up GPE or maybe pocketworkstation now?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the altboot.txt file explaining.  :-)

I haven't played around too much with the other stuff, I'll try to this week.  Thanks again for putting this out there, it looks really nice.

Looks like the infamous opie-mail message

Ugh, don't do that! Hentges is based on the newest working sources in OE.
There is no point in upgrading since you've already got the most recent versions (no matter what ipkg says).

USB is still a little bit flakey. I had to use some serious hacks to get USB Host mode auto-detected. Also I had to unload the USB modules on suspend or USB is dead after resume.
BTW: Check out Settings/USB Mode to switch between USB Networking and USB Storage mode

Whoops, I was playing around with the keymap and used the "On" button for testing as it doesn't do anything currently anyways. Looks like I commited one of these tests

Booting pocketworkstation does bot work out of the box w/ altboot. PW wasn't designed to be
really booted and hangs during init.

I'm having trouble with the install... I'm new the the Zaurus world but have successfully switched between pdaxrom and OZ before but i'm having problems with this one.

After holding down OK to get the flash menu up I pick option 4 and then either CF or SD on the next menu just gives an error (i can only guess it's an error) in japenese.

I've checked the md5 of the initrd as thats the only files with a md5sum provided. I also noticed that the updater.sh script isnt human readable. I've tried redownloading it but I get the same thing.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Ben

Make sure your AC is connected. updater.sh is "encrypted", it is not supposed to be human readable.

I don't know if it's the same but I had a similar problem, the file updater.sh was at fault. The Z was keeping writing "ADD...tmp/data...bin" something like that. Once I used the updater.sh from the official OZ 3.5.3 release from the C1000 folder, everything went OK. So try that file instead to see.

Hope it helps

The updater.sh you have for the akita is not the last one I edited, I am attaching here the "fixed" one, that shows the "progress bar" for the initrd as it should be, instead of the debug data.
