OK
removed a ton of files, installed the new package and the additional stuff in ScottYelich's feed. I get xfce, taskbar and window manager, no panel. run ipkg-link  same result. reboot, xfce on't load-- can't find  gconf(2?). and is I recall correctle xfwm, or xfce' ?   will wait for updated ipks, i think
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=90252\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

There are probably some other libs removed as well (I put some files in the ipkgs that shouldn't have been there).
I believe e.g. libxml2 was included in the two part ipkgs.

You could try to run :
# ipkg upgrade (leave X first, make sure you have a network connection)

The ipk of the base system seems to be fine and isn't likely going to be changed before the next release of xfce4.

Keep us informed,

whenever i try to add it to the panel, the panel dies...

any clues?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=90254\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I suppose "it" is the panel-menu-plugin ?

Have you got libxml2 (in the feed) and dhb (attached in this thread) installed ?
Yes, then

after adding and the panel disappearing, in an aterm :
Code: [Select]
# xfce4-panel &
I had this too when I added "it" first, but this command brought the panel back for me.

Is there anyone can teach me to add the CF SD Beterry monitor to the bar?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=90283\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

If you want them in the taskbar that comes up at first startup (top of the screen):

right click the screen, from the menu select "battery monitor" (its in accessories)
or whatever matchbox applet you like. They come in the taskbar.

If you want them in the panel :
You should have the systray-plugin installed.
Then you kill the taskbar : # killall xftaskbar4
After this : right click the panel, "add item" and select "systray".
Then select the systray-apps you like from the menu.

For now, You have to select the systray-apps again after leaving xfce4, I'm working on a way to have them started when starting xfce4. (looking where to put them)

Instead of reinstalling xfce4, try :
Code: [Select]
# rm -r /home/root/.cache
This removes the files of the session that was running before.
!!! Don't do this while running xfce4 !!!!

Chero:
Couple of questions:
I noticed that the corgi.xmodmap is not getting loaded when I start xfce4. I've added it to the startxfce4 script, but is there a better place to put it?

Also, I still haven't figured out how you got the mount points displaying in your panel? I can browse them using the xfce4 panel menu (although trying to unmount them doesn't seem to work)

Any hints would be appreciated.

Isn't the xmodmap in the xinitrc.xfce4 ?

Sorry, can't offer any more help right now, I'm playing to get openoffice working on pdaX. Have to flash about twice a day, have to have as much space as possible, so I don't have xfce (or anything else) installed right now. I will try later.

Maybe scoutme can help us out, I believe he's quite good at xfce.

this is my xfce4 xinit, and the xmodmap is loaded.
Try it - backup yours first.

(in my panel - from the ipk in this thread - the mount voice is clearly visible. You should remove and re-install the ipk)

I just started using xfce and I must say it's very nice.  I am having problems with it finding the xmms and startmenu plugins.  I get the same "cannot find libxmms_plugin.so/libmenustart.so" error.  I tried converting underscores to dashes and that didn't help.

CPU/Mem monitor, Vol control, and battery load fine in the panel, and will give tooltip readings, but do not display their bars in the panel

Also, if I make attempt to browse for an icon from the"Edit Item" menu, X crashes.

Any ideas?  I have already uninstalled/installed all the packages and it's all on the Zaurus, not on SD.

Thanks
