When did the XGP pop up?
The XGP is being developed by GamePark, (not GamePark Holdings.., who are developing the GPx2)
The company split, one is making a mainstream gaming platform to compete with the DS and PSP. It will not be as hackable and may or may not run Linux. It will however feature 3d acceleration and a larger screen. The XGP is expected to come out in early 2006.

GamePark Holdings is creating the GPx2. The GPx2 is designed to be hackable, it is the sequel to the GP32. It has a smaller screen, will be cheaper and runs Linux. TV out will be an extra module, compared to the XGP which has it built in. In some other news, the pre-release price is about $190, the price was increased because users demanded more RAM (and they got it, it was upgraded from 32mb to 64mb.. if only Sharp would listen). The GPx2 is expected to be release in late October to November. (I will be pre-ordering, it looks great).

In a response to the DRM posts, DRM is needed if people are going to make commercial games for it, otherwise nobody would take the risk of selling them. The GPx2 is otherwise going to be very open, allowing homebrew games (initally SDL based, more later) and possibly third party OSes (It supports booting off of the SD card).

Anyways, I hope this made a shred or two of sense.

It's been written on a couple of sites already, but yes, the DRM implementation on that device is solely to protect game makers.
Also, if you can't refrain from posting, at least make an effort toward decent language.
