Alt + Mouse (drag)
« on: August 18, 2005, 06:11:34 pm »
Hello,

I know how to use the Alt + mouse routine to move around within a window that's too big for the screen, which is made much easier using an actual usb mouse with my C1000. Using the touchscreen and stylus to do this is a major PITA.

Is there a script that can be changed to have the windows open to a certain size? The main examples I have in mind are the "Open File" windows in AbiWord and Gnumeric. Both windows open so large that the top bar is not accessible when opened and  you have to move around quite a bit to get to the filesystem.

Is this something that's "tweak-able", or is it a limitation in pdaXrom? Under Debian/XQt I don't remember having this same problem.

Thanks for your time,
Bill

not what you were looking for, but it is a window manager thing. As you might imagine I have lots of inconveniently sized windows on my 6k in portrait mode. using xfce helps that a lot.  I checked abiword's open file box in xfce... no size issues at all. Don't know if saying 'try xfce' is what you wnted to hear, but it should solve this issue.

adf,

Thanks for your reply. I have wanted to try xfce -- in fact, that was my next project.

If it is a space-saver for your 6000, it's worth a shot for me.

Regards,
Bill

You can resize the window always by pressing the ctrl+alt+m button - default should be calendar+address+m

Talking about maximization, inside Abiword (for example) if you want to open a file, the open file window is not maximizable, doing Alt + Spacebar choses everything available ACCEPT "Maximize/Restore" option.
Is that a normal behaviour ?
