bah... they don\'t look that nice to me.  besides, I don\'t know how anyone could use the on-screen keyboard as a primary method of data input.  maybe that\'s just because I\'m so used to the Z keyboard.  also... only a memory stick?  when (if ever) will sony begin supporting media other than it\'s own proprietary memory-sticks?

Yeah, the current clamshell models are more impressive than this.  Especially the one with the hires screen, bluetooth, and wifi built in.  Mmm, I would probably get one if it could be reflashed with Linux, memory stick and all.

Besides, isn\'t there an adapter that lets you stick an SD card in a memory stick slot?

The NX73 and NX80 had limited support of CF memory cards. Through software (someone cracked the code) i think they made it 100% compatible with all the clie software. so sony has tried other formats, the question is, if the newer clie\'s will keep that too.

KwaiFeh - thanks for the clarification... but how do they use them?  I thought they only had a single memory stick slot... unless there is MS to CF adaptor?

That\'s because the handwriting recognition on the sony actually works unlike the z which is pants. And is MS really any more proprietary than SD they are both standards and you have to sign a NDA to licence, its just that sony dropped the ball again remember betamax.

I probably shouldn\'t have used the term \"proprietary\"... what I meant was that the memory sticks seem to be only used in Sony products, whereas SD and CF media are used all over.

IIRC, Sony didn\'t advertise it as a CF slot, or even mention it.  It was only referred to as a \"wireless card slot\" or something to that effect.  Although electronically it was equivalent to CF, the only card that would actually work was the Sony wireless card, at least until some 3rd party wrote other drivers based on reverse engineering.
