I have the same problem, even after install usbdconfig from feed (SL6000-L)
I have done ipkg install usbdconfig , and the feed is correct .

Another question:

I have had similar problems with the microdrive on my C3100.

I started out with hda containing a 128mb swap partiton and one big ext3 partition and made the aproriate entries in /etc/fstab, but the Z ignores them and wants to mount hda1 at /mnt/ide so I repartitioned to one big ext3 partition on the microdrive and let it automount at /mnt/ide. I created a symlink from /home to /mnt/ide/home.

On resume I sometimes could no access my microdrive and had to reboot.

I also have an AMBICOM BT2000C cf card which was working on the sharp rom with tetsu's special kernel but is not working under pdaXrom.  In the meantime I have repartioned and flashed back to the sharp rom to analyze the differences in the bluetooth configuration.

I really like pdaXrom!  Very responsive and the ability to run X apps without an extra layer is also very cool.  I have donated and will again.

I've a problem accessing the internal drive of my 3100
i mount manually my hda3 on /mnt/ide3
no problem with this, but if i suspend the Z or play with cf cards, when i want to access /mnt/ide3/Documents/Datas/ the disk stop responding
he spin, but no more, and the green led (access disk) stay always on
and the directory where he can't read anymore is different each time

it's really strange
i've reflashed by hazard, but no more luck, same problem

i'll try more to find an exact behavior for this error to reproduce this
has any C3100 owner the same problem?
maybe it's my disk who is not perfect
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96514\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

i had the same problem today... a simple reboot made the microdrive work again like before... i dont know what caused this problem (maybe abiword, firefox, xpdf or mc). i also use a c3100

next problem i have:
xmms starts but doesnt play anything. it says something about esound plugin.

next one:
i am not able to acces cf/sd/hdd with my windows xp pc via usb. when i connect the zaurus with the pc it appears as a drive but i cannot access it (it says that it is not formated and asks if i want to format the drive).

else it is a very nice rom (even that i am new to pdaxrom). i hope that nobody is angry about my comparison but pdaxrom seems to be a bit slower than sharp or cacko rom. i.e. in quake i had about 13fps with pdaxrom and with sharp rom i think i had 20.7fps. and the whole system seems a bit slower (but that could be because of X and the more beautiful textures etc.). what i really miss is a sheet programm (like at least hancom sheet or something like this) and a file browser (ok mc isn't that bad  but i.e. treexplorer for sharp and cacko was a bit more comfortable). anyway i think i will stay on pdaxrom (really good work guys)... looking forward for a stable release.

still i have some questions:

* what size for root and user partition is the best choice? now i have 100MB for the root partition... is that ok or should i go for the whole 121 (i think which are available) or should i make half for user and half for root? what is better?

* how to fix xmms to get it playing music and movies?

* where do i get xfce from?

* what file browser, sheet program and pdf reader should i get (i dont like xpdf too much... i liked pdf viewer on sharp more)

* how to connect the zaurus via usb to the pc to get acces to sd/cf or the hdd?

* where's a good documentation of pdaxrom?

* should i use only the applications from the c1000-c3100 feed or is it possible to install apps from oder pdaxrom feeds?

thanks in advance

Hi Laze,

Trying to use rsync for feed sync, but got several errors running command ... *grumble* ... I tried to get the rc11 feed for c860 but no luck ...

Quote
PLEASE - Don't download the entire feeds to often its hard load for the servers / bandwidth - if you do use rsync so you only get new update files.

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96264\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

yes I read the man pages but no I'm out of knowledge :-( any help ... maybe a short command ... would be very nice ...

at the moment I try to get rc11 and install it onmy nice c860 :-)

Thanks

Hi

there is a problem with microdrive and cf-memory:
if you boot without cf-memory inserted, the internal microdrive is /dev/hda and later inserted cf-cards become /dev/hdc.
if you boot with cf-card inserted, it becomes /dev/hda and the microdrive becomes /dev/hdc
So the Kernel seems to confuse the first and second cf-slot.
Cheers,
Thomas

Try in Xmms:
Options/preferences/Outputplugin/ OSS Driver
instead of esound.
One day it workes that way for me on an older rc

what file browser, sheet program and pdf reader should i get (i dont like xpdf too much... i liked pdf viewer on sharp more)
Try ROX for the filer (combined with Archive), it's a great filer
Also Gnumeric is good as a Sheet program
As for Xpdf, I don't know another one for PdaX

Stick to the feed for the moment, there are lots of changes in this rc (libraries, Xfree, ....)

This might be obvious to other people, but it's bitten me a couple of times:

Running qpkg will reset your ipkg.conf to use the standard feed.  So, if you install, say, frozen-bubble, you'll probably pull in some bad dependencies because of the feed.  This is how I got the wrong X server running on my C1000 since the dependency was wrong and I think I pulled in an older version of X.

maybe repartition hardrive with fdisk to one big partition?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96519\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Of Course, this will be better, and i want to make it, but...
if i repartition my hard drive, the sharp rom doesn't boot anymore if i reflash it

on the 3100 you have 3 partitions when shipped.
2 system partitions (ext3) for sharp rom restore and sharp rom booting (he just verify if the 2 system partitions are present at boot, if not, it's the HDD1 error and no boot anymore)
and an user partition (vfat) for datas
we are not responsible of this layout

so if fdisk the drive is mandatory, many users can't test the rom anymore, because of the too difficult rollback

The zaurus usb-storage not mounting on fedora 4 systems with rc11 seems to be fixed by upgrading to the latest FC4 kernel (2.6.12-1.1447). Apparently, this new kernel also fixes the usbnet driver that was broken as well but I haven't tested that.

So if you have a sl-c860 or sl-c1000 with pdaxrom, and a pc with fedora 4, download and install the latest fedora 4 kernel and you shouldn't have any problems with usb-storage or usbnet recognising your zaurus.

PdaXrom is awesome. Thanks for a great ROM

quick 6000L feedback:

much much more quicker, as quick as a guylhem rom or a default sharp rom. great job, for example, abiword takes 3 seconds to open.
put a usb keyboard and some keys are not working but onlew a few, depending of the model of the kb. anyway it has been recognized right away.
vt100 emulator (tipterm.ipk) with serialIO cable works like a charm!

i followed the instructions to modify the files to have the wifi but cant surf!
is there any problem with built in wifi?  the wifiup and wifidown script makes the wifi led switch on and off but dillo xft cant see anything and a ping does not respond.

i just want wifi at home with wep key 40 bits on channel 10.  and why not a little sniffer for warwalking but its not the first first proirity.

the suspend mode works ok, not the built in key , thats ok, we were adviced.

from time to time, cf is not seen after a resume, have to eject with the icon and to insert it again and wait for 1 minute to see it.

not tested yet: bluetooth through pretec cf card.
last impression, it seems that wifi on pdaxrom eats more battery than wifi on sharp rom.
this is not the case when its off.

hope it helps.
big big "merci" for this rom, for more beautifull than default one.
