6000l Fixed Ip And Wep Key On Rc11
« on: September 23, 2005, 01:56:48 pm »
hello, i'm unable to get the wifi working at home with 40 bit wep key, channel 10 and fixed ip.
i 'don't want to change the config to dhcp as other pcs and servers are running.

i followed the scripts for wifi up and wifidown, it brings the wifi or not but unable to ping anything.

here is my config:

6000 ip: 192.168.0.3
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.254

dns: my isp dns

i see something related to dhcpcd in the script, anything could be related to that?

i'll have to find a hotspot to test.

many thanks

Hi,

I am using dhcp with 40bit WEP, but have not tried static IPs yet.

1 - What does the "ifconfig" command output after you run the script to start WIFI?

2 - Assuming #1 shows a configured wlan0 device, what happens if you
try to ping your gateway?  (I'm also wondering why your gateway is .254)

well i thought it was asked to be in the wifi script.
i agree with you its only to show wlan0 status.

192.168.0.254 is my router gateway to reach the internet.

i cant ping 192.168.0.5 ip adress (6000 adress)
can't ping also 192.168.0.254 (gateway)
i think its about the script who try to catch a dhcp adress from the script and as i have static...

do you know how to set fixed ip int the 6k?
merci
