Hello,

I use VMware 5.5 to emulate pdaX86, all works, but startx fails.
I tried to configure via xf86config and xf86cfg (which I don't understood how it works), with mouse, keyboard and screen settings. Other UNIX system works on with vesa screen config via drakconf (Mandrake 10.1).

How can I do ?

Thanks.

PS : This topic is also about real PC installations and to expose pdaX86 problems.

try next:

Code: [Select]
rm /etc/X11/XF86Config
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xdetect

startx

if that will fail, please send me (  sash (at) pdaXrom.org  ) next files :

Code: [Select]
/etc/X11/XF86Config

OUPS : In English :

It does the same thing. The main error seems to be 'No screen found', whereas text mode and login screen work fine.
I mailed you with screenshot and a .log file of vmware, because I can't acces a file in the virtual disk.

The startx command do the same thing than before. But with X -configure, a new conf file /home/root/XF86config.new appear, but I can't edit it : there is no emacs, no kate, no edit, no texteditor... It show me at this time than the mouse isn't recognized and just before show me display devices as vga, vesa, ... but I can't see before !!!

Thanks.
