Displaying Japanese Filenames?
« on: November 02, 2005, 03:25:21 am »
Does anyone have an idea on how to display Japanese file and folder names correctly. I'm using RC12.

I've installed the Japanese locale UTF-8 from xqt.sourceforge.jp/feed-testing/ and the associated gconv files from xqt.sourceforge.jp/feed/

Now my locale is Japanese for sure, since programs display menus in Japanese no problem.

But when I browse folders in any app, instead of the Japanese names I see ????????

It's the same behavior even when chrooting into debian, which is set-up properly, since I could display everything under XQt when using the Cacko ROM.

Where is the problem?
