kernel modules (sharpzdc-cs package) and capture application (zcamera package) uploaded to RC12 feeds.
Just install zcamera from network, or download sharpzdc-cs and zcamera to zaurus and install it.
ZCamera application will in Sound&Video.

Control keys:
Button on the camera - grab image in jpeg file (in Documents directory)
up/down - zoom (probably work only for QVGA cam mode)
left/right - image rotation
Enter - change mode VGA/QVGA (window size the same, jpeg image will different)
Esc - quit

my findings:

you can run zcapture-sdl in a console.

- it starts in vga mode, meaning the pictures saved are 640x480 when you press the camera button
- press enter, you are in qvga mode. Nothing changes but the pics are now saved in 320x240
- when in qvga mode you can rotate with left right and zoom but only in landscape mode.
- the image seems corrupted when you return from qvga portrait to vga, pressing right and everything seems to go back to normal

the pics are saved in /home/root/Documents
SLC-860 cacko / senao wifi

Thanks guys

But....sorry, I'm completely hopeless at Linux or anything technical!

If you could let me know what file(s), where they are, and what folder I should put them in....I could manage that :-)

Yes, I know the camera's pretty basic, but I've always got the Z with me and it's just for fun

Thanks again

Hi Sashz / Folks,

I just got around to testing this on my SL-6000.

1 - The image in the display window is rotated clockwise 90 degrees, otherwise OK.
2 - The only (keyboard) key that appears to function is RETURN
3 - Pictures are saved OK, although rotated as in #1 above.

I even tried "streaming" the X11 window over WIFI to another box, and it
worked better than I expected!

EDIT:  I forgot to mention that I had to reboot after the install, as I kept getting a
message about a failure writing to the camera driver.  I originally installed the
kernel module to SD which might have caused this problem.  In addition, after
removing and re-installing, I still saw some warnings about unresolved symbols:

Installing sharpzdc-cs...depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/net/hostap.o

And I remember seeing a message about tainting the kernel, but I did not
capture it.

All in all, this is somewhat useful, and has great potential for other apps!

Is anyone still working on this? I installed under pdaXii13 5.3 and it worked OK. In VGA mode, the arrow keys did not functions. In QVGA, the arrow keys seemed to function intermittently. The image was rotated in VGA mode and I could not fix it. In QVGA mode, I was able to rotate it correctly. Thanks.

Under r121 I just tried it myself. All I get is a blank terminal window & the errors "Can't open camera driver" followed by a whole lot of "couldn't write to driver". Rebooting hasn't helped. That's when I checked that it seems that only the 2.4.20 kernel module is supplied. Now I'm confused. Isn't pdaXii13 2.6 based as well? If that's the case, then how does it work for you, Ling?

pdaXii13 is based on beta 3 which is a 2.4(.20 I think) kernel.
