I've noticed some slowness when running several different versions of MAME on my SL6000.
I can get 20+ frames per second when I start, say, MSPacman. But after playing around one or two minutes, it slows to a crawl - more like 10FPS.
I don't believe that it's a memory issue, and I'm running Xmame.SDL from outside of X (I exit X first).
Any idea what could cause this, or what I can do about it?
Is there some way to accelerate the CPU and keep it that way when I'm running some particular application? (I tried to use 'nice', but this didn't seem to matter.)
If I exit and restart MAME, it is fast again (before slowing down, as it always does).
I've compiled my own Xmame 0.77 with a subset of all games to shrink the executable (still 20MB, though). This seems to slightly speed it up, but it still exhibits the slowdown behavior.
Help??
