Mouse Scroll Wheel
« on: February 02, 2006, 10:48:19 am »
I've searched the forum and found people suggesting getting certain USB Host cable, but I think I allready have a iRiver cable.
I went to the pdaXrom bug list page and searched for keywords with my browser find option but found nothing.
I tried using xev but it only registers clicking the wheel, not scrolling it.
I've tried differnt mice, but to no avail.

Have I missed an obvious post/bug?

It worked under Cacko, works under X on every Linux distro I've used in the last 5 years, so it must be posible.

I must be missing something obvious.

i've tried a cheap a4tech notebook mouse, a razer diamondback and a razer copperhead but non of the scrollwheels work there.

When I still had my c3000 my scroll wheel worked on my Apple Mighty Mouse, In Cacko it only worked horizontally.  In PDAX it worked correctly.

mighty mouse hey? cool. I will give one a try. What version of pdaXrom were you using drnick?
(thanks for sticking around to help us out, btw)

This sounds like an issue with the mouse driver. Perhaps a different one could be compiled with better support for more mice. I'd offer but (as of yet) I have no experience with compile for the zaurus.

I have a no-name cheap USB scroll mouse that works fine under pdaXrom (SL6000 RC12), but no scroll as others have noted. The scroll wheel works as middle button.

This is normal behaviour on standard installs on most machines for me; I just have to add the z-axis mapping to the X config file to get it to work. Judging by this post though, that's not so easy on pdaXrom:

Does anyone know if we have progressed from there?

Hmmm... I tried a mighty mouse in Dillo. No dice.
What application(s) did it work for you?

According to the post I linked above, it has to be re-compiled. That was for an older version of pdaXrom though...

I have tried this command, this works on PC/xorg

Code: [Select]
$ xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 4 5"
But I got a error:
"Wrong number of buttons, must be 3 not 5"

Well, to mouse wheel works well need 5 buttons support.

I used the first beta of PDAX rc12 on c3000.  It was compiled by THc, He may have added more mouse support.  Under Cacko 1.23b1 scroll wheel had to be used horizontally for vertical scrolling.
