Port Req Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection
« on: March 12, 2006, 04:45:09 pm »
Hi

I have just moved to pdaxrom after using cacko/shrp rom for more than a year. I loved playing "Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection" on debian with XQt. I would like to request a port of these to pdaxrom. The games are really cool and easy to port and would be a good addition to the pdaxrom library of games.

The trouble is that i have a windows laptop and only non-root access to linux machines at work and so i cannot install the pdaxrom sdk without installing qemu or vmware else i could port these quite easily. I have ported quite a few games to cacko sharp because a cygwin sdk is available to make apps for the sharp rom.

The sources could be obtained from here.

thanks to anyone who would try,

You could still continue to enjoy playing these using Pocket Workstation, which is what I've been doing until now ...

Here you are. Installed size 2108KB.

Notes:

all these puzzles have to be run from the command line. If someone sends me a collection of appropriate icons (please name them after their corresponding executable) then I'll repackage this so that you can select the puzzles from your WM's menu.

I notice that with the Debian packages (ie Pocket Workstation) I could use the "maximise" window button and the graphics would scale accordingly, not so with my version

thanks a lot. At first i couldnt figure out how to run debian with pdaxrom but last night i managed to find the -nolisten tcp option in startx .

Anyways softvfp binaries will be much faster than the debian hard float binaries.

let me try these now .

UPDATE: what is package "portable"
anyways it works like you said (doesnt maximise the graphics. strange thing is if i use an xserver in my laptop then the graphics are maximised.

It's an artifact of the forum's attachment system which changes hyphens in the filename to underscores. You need to rename the downloaded file to:
portable-puzzle-collection_r6600_armv5tel.ipk

The only problem is that I'm too lazy to download and resize them

Like I said, if someone (hint hint) puts together a set of suitable icons then I'll repackage.

any ideas why maximise won't work. it works if i connect to an xserver (cygwin) running in my pc. i see that it is not window manager (fluxbox, matchbox) specific.

Thanks, I used the 64x64 icons. Here it is repackaged, this version uses 2328KB when installed.

Please rename the downloaded file to

portable-puzzle-collection_r6609_armv5tel.ipk

before installing. Incidently the change in version number is because of a newer version upstream.
