Sd Card Problems
« on: May 06, 2006, 03:27:32 pm »
I have a canon 32mb sd card.

When I try to remove all partitions, I keep getting the error message card is locked or read only ( get these errors on the zaurus and with windows).

Anyone got any idea's on how to fix this problem? I need to remove the current partition and set up a fresh mkf2.ext2 partition.

Please HELP!!!

You have to umount it (as root) first. See the following tutorial for howto:

I have already tried that. I know how to do it. But for some reason this just does not work.

I think it is time to buy a new sd card.

Do you have the little mechanical lock on the SD-card pushed ‘completely’ to the unlocked position?

I only ask because a few users have had a problem (on some cards) with it moving just enough to lock it.

Tried that. In actuallity the lock is nothing more than a piece of plastic.

Now might be the time to get a larger cap. sdcard.
