Author Topic: Rom's & Feeds For C860 (boxer/corgi) (Read 3262 times)

Hey all. I managed to find what I think are copies of beta 1, 2 & 3 for my boxer, but it seems I can install packages from the beta1 feed on the other two (I get zcat errors - not a valid gzip file - when trying to install). The packages from the contrib feeds seem to work ok (at least the ones I've tried so far, anyway).

The beta1 rom & the feeds I've gotten all from the pdaxrom hompage: http://www.pdaxrom.org/index.php?showid=8&menuid=11.

beta2 rom: http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/cacko/pdaXrom/1.1.0/beta2/c760/

beta3 rom: http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib/1.1.0beta3/Zaurus-7x0-860/

Are these right? What feeds can I use with what beta? Could someone please set me on the straight & narrow (& latest! ). thks

Nope, that's dealing with a missing gzip/zcat. For me the problem is that zcat can't open the files, which is strange, 'cause I can still install stuff from the contrib feeds just fine, just not the 'base' beta1 feed.

That's why I'm asking if there are actual beta2 and/or beta3 feeds?

I have encountered this error in the past when files were corrupted during download or not downloaded completely; are you able to download and install manually with success?

Yes, lots. It seems that only _some_ packages give me a problem. I've since reflashed again (to clean up some screw ups). I'll start installing again & see if I can come up with a list.

Perhaps I misunderstand your problem, but there are feeds specifically for beta2 and for beta3 in subdirectories within the beta2 and beta3 directories you link to in the initial post. I didn't have a problem using the feeds from those directories when I loaded the appropriate beta.

me bad. Of course there are files in the that I posted above for beta3, but not in the beta2 (which is what I'm using right now). Maybe I should try beta3 instead, but I'm hesitant because of the comment stbrock made in [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=73&t=19249&hl=&view=findpost&p=126032]this thread[/url]. He never did specify what the problems were, so maybe I should bodly go where other boxer's have gone & try it out. thks

I didn't realize that Yelich's feed directory for beta2 was empty. I had already copied the feed from this beta2 feed link, but that link may be gone now. If you are going to be trying beta2, perhaps I could upload my copy of the feed to Yelich's site? I've gone back to beta1 on the C860 for the present, as pgas's compilation of beta3 didn't recognize my Socket bluetooth card and a couple of other minor things. Could have been easily fixable, but I didn't have time to sort it out.

I'm flashing beta3 as I speak, but if there are too many problems then I'll go back to beta2. The link in that thread you gave is dead, so if you can get it going somewhere else that would be great.

What's the best thread to post issues with beta3?

Your 30 seconds are up . I flashed beta3, there are several issues that I can't work out (it won't suspend no how, lost the fn-contrast keys, the sudo package is muffed). OTOH, it seems faster than beta2.

So now I'm back on beta2, so I'd love a copy of that feed
