The flash plugin which you downloaded is probably a binary.

There are a few threads about this on the devnet.....

From memory:

I cross compiled a flash player for X11. I never tried it nor did anyone else as far as I know.

There was source code in the package for a netscape plugin (which is compatible with Opera) however I was missing header files so couldn\'t compile it for Qtopia (I think that was the problem).

You could try porting the flash player to Qtopia.

http://sgp.zaurii.net/binaries/flash-0.4.10_arm.tar.gz contains the original source plus the compiled components. Try installing QtX and see whether the X11 bit works, then you could look into porting it.

I talked to Trolltech about this one - you require the implementation of the QNSPlugin which Opera produced when they ported to the Zaurus. Unfortunately, Opera won\'t give it you, so writing visual plugins is a non-starter

Sharp wouldn\'t help either

I wrote the Flash Player for PlanetWeb\'s browser on the Dreamcast, and wanted to port to the Zaurus as a plugin for Opera - the idea died \'coz of lack of cooperation from Opera, and lack of interest from Sharp. At least Trolltech were polite enough to get back to me and let me know what I needed (even though they couldn\'t provide it).

Why not write one for Konqueror?  Oh, and if knoqueror isn\'t mature enough for you (no, I won\'t tell you to devel for it...) maybe Flash support for Konqueror will boost support for it and it\'ll move along faster...

Just wanted to note that QFlashPlayer has been updated:
http://ichitokumei.hp.infoseek.co.jp/

It claims to support Flash 3.  The author also says that he made a netfront plugin, but won\'t release it due to not clearly understanding the license issues.

Note you will need madplay for mp3 sound.

Where\'s the source? I couldn\'t get babelfish to translate the page for me.

That said, I think it says that it\'s based on the same code I cross-compiled and posted a link to above (from here: http://www.swift-tools.net/Flash/), though my version is X11 only as per the original code.

The source isn\'t available on that page.  You could always try sending the author an email, or try posting on the board linked on that page.

This version provides a (very simple) QT GUI.  I haven\'t found any good files to test it with though...  the only files that I could find off hand are from much newer versions of flash (Flash 5).  Some of them run ok, but are rather slow... I don\'t know if it\'s because of the flash version, or just that the player is that slow.

Ah good. Not being a flash aficionado, I\'d thought a massive leap had been made (to supporting flash 5 for example), I presume the changes are to do with the Qt functionality as the backend stuff upon which it\'s based (afaik) is still at the same version as it was when I cross-compiled it (early?) last year.

I must admit that I\'m not overly interested in flash, but it is (will be...?) of course another weapon in our arsenal.

There\'s a test file here, from the download page: http://www.swift-tools.net/Flash/ScreenSaver.swf

That said, if you can\'t find anything in flash 3 format then it\'s not much use anyway.
