Java Firefox Errors
« on: May 15, 2006, 08:50:41 pm »
Hey guys, writing again.
I followed the procedure, downloaded and installed all files from:
http://zaurus.vivaphp.net/pdaxrom/java/
I installed everything to my Zaurus C860 Beta 1.
But when I try to run gcappletviewer it says it can't find famvm. No such file or directory at /usr/local/bin/gcappletviewer line 36

Anyone any advice please? Couldn't find anything on the forum that fixed this.

Thanks in advance!!

--Update instead of jamvm dir I just put the jamvm file into the dir of gcappletviewer and tried running the pc clock... Dunno what;s going I see a Window like it is almost ready to run but it's not running.
-Firefox crashes with the same error message...
-Feel like I am getting closer..

Argh did this last week..don't have my z on me.  The problem is that jamvm is not where the plugin expects it.  Try finding the jamvm executable and making a link to it someplace on your path, like /usr/bin, for example. Once the system "knows" where jamvm is , via that link, it should execute and all will go well.

Someone on IRC told me to echo $PATH. I did that and picked out a dir. put in the jamvm executable but still nogo, same problem. Also tried the path you gave.
Maybe I need to put it in a specific dir?

/usr/java/jamvm
/usr/java/bin/jamvm
/usr/java/bin/share/jamvm
/usr/local/bin/jamvm

There isn't /usr/bin/java/jamvm
"ln -sf /usr/java/jamvm /usr/bin/jamvm"
I did this instead, same problem
Anything else you think I could try?
Thank a lot for your help btw!

-Update the jamvm (non-dir) is located in /usr/java/jamvm/bin/jamvm
-Maybe this will clear some thing ?

Have you tried running a simple standalone program, not within a browser?
Make sure that all libs, including GNU Classpath(!), can be found.
