Wireless Link + Disappearing Panel Icons
« on: June 04, 2006, 09:05:17 pm »
I have a linksys wcf-12 wireless card that seems to be getting *very* low signal from my wireless AP. (it does connect, and does function) .. but only get's maybe 10% signal. (even when in the same room, and I have a +7dbi omni) - something isn't right.  (wep is enabled, is there a bug with encryption overhead?)

This same card worked fine with my 5600 + wapaton, big fat blue singal icons most everyplace in my house -- why is it so low in pdaXrom?

I'm using the default drivers that came with the install. (hostap I belive) I know I was previousley using wlan-ng drivers in Sharp. Is that what is making the difference? This is a very popular card, so I can't imagine it's unsupported.  I've tried difference iw* commands (set sensitivity, etc..) nothing makes a huge difference.

The other problem I've had is that my matchbox panel went blank. All the icons (shell / clock/ menu, etc...) just disappeared one day -  I did recently install Rox, but i seem to remember that it was there after that,  - where does this info live ?   How can I get it back?

-edit-
ok ... I was able to re-add a new menu icon andclock,etc... by holding the stylus down on the panel and adding them. However when I choose a new terminal ... it doesn`t actually put one there. Doesn`t error, but also doesn`t work ....some little trick I`m missing?
