Installation On C1000
« on: June 08, 2006, 02:15:28 pm »
I've searched and didn't really come up with anything.

I read on the pdaxrom site that I needed 3 files - initrd.bin tools.tar updater.sh.  I downloaded the rom but don't see these files.  I have about 5 files but none are any of these 3.

Do I just use the 5 but follow the same method?

These are the files that I have so far, I know I probably don't need all of them but I'm just listing them:

u-boot.bin
emergenc.img
emergenc.img.md5sum
u-boot.bin.md5sum
updater.pro
kernel.img
rootfs.img
kernel.img.md5sum
rootfs.img.md5sum
autoboot.sh

Which files do I need on the SD card to reflash it?

Sorry for the questions but I don't want to brick my new c1000,

Thanks a bunch

I want to use the old bootloader, is there one?  Step 7 of that process is kinda of vague cuz its just tells me to hold down menu (d + M) and it dosent do anything.

I just got a new C1000 as well ... and I chose to go with the beta 3 for now  -- untill I learn the quirks of this distro.

beta 3 keeps the normal bootloader - so you don't need to overwrite it with U-boot.  and most of it's bugs are documented and easy to fix.

To flash beta 3 you only need 3 files on a SD or CF ->

updater.sh
initrd
tools

They are all tared together as one file when you download it - use winrar or utar to extract them and just copy to a SD card

http://mail.pdaxrom.org/node/42

Then Hold down the [OK] button while you power on the unit -> full instructions can be found in the wiki here ->

http://mail.pdaxrom.org/docs/installation/quickguide

I suggest making the root partition larger than the default 58MB - to do so you need to fix the loader 64MB limit - instructions are in the ... well .. intructions

something I noticed that gave me problems last week is that feed addresses are case sensitive... make sure you enter it exactly as it looks.     Goodluck
-> pdaXrom beta 3 fixes & feeds
C-1000 + pdaXrom beta3
linksys wifi + expansions
