Mozilla Firefox was compiled for pdaXrom! Package available from feed. For installation you will need about 25 MB free space on storage.
C700 users will need also turn swap file.
For better performance overclock Z for 471 Mhz

Sashz, nice work! Although not sure how practical it is to give up 25mg to a single app. Several questions. Can you install large apps like Firefox to SD card? & Where can I find info on how to customize the window manager interface? The panel on your task bar is very different from how the default is setup.
Keep up the great work.

Yes, of course, big apps better install on SD/CF card.

Manual for desktop/panel look on matchbox site: http://matchbox.handhelds.org

for add applets , press and hold stilus on panel.
4 icon themes available from pdaXrom feed

Great to see something get to Z while it is still bleeding edge.

But how fast is it for browsing.  Someone posted that Opera on X11 was much slower than opera / qtopia.

huh? where can we get opera for X11?

my experience is that konq under x11 rom took 26 seconds to pull up a page (www.cnn.com) vs like 3 for qt opera.

Scott
ps: I\'m going to get firefox now... I hope it\'s not slow.

sashz,

I am sorry if what I am going to ask is a stupid question.

What do you mean by \"C700 users will need also turn swap file. \" ?

A swap is a partition or a file that linux can use as additional memory, when there is not enough RAM.
Of course access times are  much longer.

see here for how to create a swap file :

http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...yes&id_cat=9#68

(you could do this on the internal flash and not only on the card, just choose where you create the swap file)

Very nice. Quite readable at its default settings (with my aging eyes even) - and being able to handle it like a book makes up in comfort for not being in front of my usual 17\" LCD. NetFront was impressive just in that it worked, if in a squinty way; Firefox makes the Z a real tool rather that a toy in this department.

the only thing I miss is qt opera\'s full screen browsing.. and opera\'s SCALING...

I netfront didn\'t just increase the fonts... but had keys to scale the entire page -- I\'d be 100% satisfied
