Anybody know why not let sd card work at full speed, is it a hardware problem or software problem?  Any idea if it is possible to make it work faster?

4bit mode requires the full SD protocal otherwise we are stuck with mmc 1.0 compatability mode (basically spi up to 25Mhz so 25mbps) even theogh mmc is at about 4.0 and has a transfer speed that rivals that of SD but without the DRM

apart from that i guess its really the dirvers

I think we should rename it to DOM (Digital Oppression Management)

Not do mention the connotations that "Dom" has.

Apparently, I can't use my new ringtones on my phone because they don't have DOM support.

I own the CD, I copied them from the CD, I want to blooming use them!!!!!

trust me there are better discussions than that one

basically if you are not a programmer then i wouldnt bother trying to speed anything up, if you are we could use a bit of help

SD's a problem scince we dont have the full documenation for the SD card and will most likly never will, however some basic SD stuff went into the last mainline kernel which is nice, i cant wait to see how it will effect things

if i remeber corectly there is a flag you can pass to the SD module (both on 2.4 and 2.6) try using modinfo <module name without .ko> on the SD card modules (hint use lsmod)
