Syncing Windows Mobile
« on: October 09, 2006, 01:40:32 pm »
Hi,

Just curious,

Is anyone interested in syncing the zaurus with a pocket pc ?

I'm trying to set this up using multisync, synCe.
It requires newer bluez, which requires a newer dbus (compiling right now).

Until now I was able to :
- get synCe and friends compiled
- get multisync compiled
- get synCe multisync plugin compiled
- get synCe file plugin compiled

- connect to my Windows mobile phone using synce (cradle and bluetooth)
- make my Z say it's a laptop when bluetoothing
- see my phone trying to start syncing, but then it fails cause the Z can't tell it's an activesyncpartner.

Stopping the cradle doesn't work, it freezes the Z, or makes everything segfault.

To be able to make my Z an activesync partner, I need newer bluez-utils.

There are talks on the internet about syncing a pocketpc to a ".ics" file. My goal is to use synce (multisync) to sync my phone to Ko/Pi.

Any hints, comments, ... ?
(Don't tell me I'm a dreamer, I already know that ...    )

Is there someone around here that uses (or used) synCe before ?

For the GPE-users : multisync has a GPE-plugin.

Having fun,
Chero.

Have you tried to use USB to connect your WM Device to Z ?
And what version of WM you have on your device?
Zaurus C-3100 ( Gentoo 2007.0 eabi, kernel 2.6.21.6)

I'm interested... but I have a smartphone with WM 5.0, and none of exiting Sync Tools doesn't support it ((

Have you tried to use USB or IRDA instead of BT ?

I tried usb and bt, both work and don't work. I didn't try irda, maybe later.

Doesn't opensync support WM 5.0 ? I compiled 0.20, but haven't tried it yet.

edit : sorry, it's 0.19

I tried RoadSync to synchronize with Outlook. It's a Java MIDP application that uses ActiveSync to synchronize with a (Corporate) Exchange mailbox (wireless).

It's worth looking at. For instance, try running it from within the Sun Wireless Toolkit to investigate the ActiveSync protocol used. Very interesting

Hi,

maybe a bit wandering off topic, but I was able to sync kdepimpi and my wince device using opensync, synce-plugin and sunbird-plugin pointed to my calendar file of kdepimpi.
I did this on my xubuntu box.
If I can get the sunbird plugin running on my Z, I can start testing.

I don't know the inside of it, but if this means the Z acts as an activesync partner there might be a way to sync data with outlook ?
