it seems that at a clock speed of 600Mhz+ FF7 actually runs full speed...*tear of joys* but my question is, if i overclock my 3100 to 624 to play ff7, how long can i play without fry my cpu? does anyone know? just curious.

I believe Overclocking our Z's to 624 has been tested and proven to be stable physically at this speed and SHOULDN'T cause any hardware damage...

Now I say *shouldn't* because if yours breaks... I dont have 400 dollars to replace it.

lol

However when there are more of 30°C Zaurus is very hot after 15min.
Now that there are 15°, I use the overclocking for max 45min-1h.

This works for C3100, values were taken from cpuoverclock.py
Code: [Select]
# set cpu clock speed
# "104", "208", "312", "416", "520", "624"
alias cpu1="echo '2000204' > /proc/zaurus/CCCR; echo '04' > /proc/zaurus/VCORE"
alias cpu2="echo '2000206' > /proc/zaurus/CCCR; echo '06' > /proc/zaurus/VCORE"
alias cpu3="echo '2000208' > /proc/zaurus/CCCR; echo '08' > /proc/zaurus/VCORE"

I play psx4zaurus on my overclocked Zaurus in a walk in fridge.
Problem solved.
Bonus: There's always snacks when I get hungry.

Are you serious... i run overclocked 24hrs a day... i mean... i dont run real cpu heavy apps other then firefox.... but i dont notice (from outside of plastic) a heat diff between the two...

Plus i read that overclocking was safe.... maybe not...

Has anyone done any tests to see how overclocking affects battery life, I'd expect it to drain a lot quicker the higher it's clocked, but noone has mentioned this.

I'm using a C3200

Overclock drain battery drammatically.
And I repeat: at 624MHz my zaurus c1000 is warm after 30min, with quake2 or psx4all, that take 100% cpu.
Try!

Warm is fine, really.  People always underestimate the maximum temperature electronics can run safely at...

As for draining the battery, it's not the overclocking that does it, it's the fact that you're running an application that is using 100% cpu time!
SL-C3100 with usb power mod running debian eabi
pdaXii13 still on the NAND for dualbooting
16GB SDHC! (a new one, after I sat on the old one and it went kaput)
D-Link 660 wifi, Socket Bluetooth rev H
External 9800mAh LiIon battery and slimline dvd drive
Homebrew microphone and remote

About Z temperature: also if it's warm, I think that never damage my Z, but I prefer stop after 30min... lol
About screen flickering, I use beta1 and it's normal when the cpu isn't to 100%. When cpu work hard screen hasn't any flickering effect.
