since not UMTS, will it support HSCD and EDGE over GSM, if not now, maybe later?

will this product's tools and programming toolkit be reasonably well documented, or will that be a community effort and permanent To-Do?

Well, this is much more an open source project than anything else, _however_ FIC / OpenMoko is very commited to that platform and will stay around funding one or the other activity. Think Maemo, but even more open

Latest rumours indicate that you buy it from the FIC webshop. See the community mailinglist for more details

So, USB is a host?  There is conflicting info about Bluetooth.  Is it there?

I think I am interested too.  What is the latest info about the release date.  I am in the market for a smartphone and I think this could be it.

Will it be user (not just developer) ready at launch?

SL-C3100 (from PriceJapan.com): modified Sharp Rom (couldn't make Japanese input work in Cacko Rom)

anything more substantial than this yet?

I did join the mailing lists but there was so much chatter on it I dropped out, I just couldn't keep up!

USB is gadget + unpowered host.

Bluetooth looks good, but I can't say for sure atm.

Any word on when, where, or how we can place our order for this phone?  I've seen conflicting information, one said it would be available for order in Jan 2007 and another said February.

Thanks koen,

I'm definitely getting in line for this one.  The iPhone is intriguing and I'll definitely give it a look, but the truly open nature of this phone makes it hard to pass up.  And I don't have to sign a 2 year agreement to get it.
