Usb Otg Client Speed

The standards for USB are defined by the USB-IF (USB - Implementers Forum). The OTG 1.0 is a new extension to the USB 2.0 specifications. USB 2.0 defines the following speeds:

    * USB 2.0 High Speed - 480Mbps
    * USB 2.0 Full Speed - 12Mbps (same as USB 1.1 speed)
    * USB 2.0 Low Speed - 1.5Mbps

In order to be USB 2.0 compliant, one or more of the above speeds has to be implemented. The Zaurus implements the USB 2.0 Full Speed data rate for file transfers and the USB 2.0 Low Speed data rate for peripherals such as mice and keyboards. It does not implement the USB 2.0 High Speed data rate.

So before I format my SD card to fat32 so that I can use it as a mass storage device in USB client mode on a Windows box... Just confirming that when the OTG port is in client mode it is only using USB2.0 Full Speed. From reading the OTG suplicant it sounds like High Speed is optional.

yes

a OTG product is 2.0 complient (as the 2OTG is part of the 2.0 spec) however its up to the manufacturer to decide what speed to make it run at

but yes the speed will be full speed (12mbps) on your Z

I'm sad to hear that it not High Speed but it's good to know for sure. Thanks. If they had used High Speed for the the client mode I wonder if there would have been a bottle next somewhere.

as i have mentioned in the c300 fourms i have seen a 233Mhz arm processor max out a USB 2.0 link, CPU usage was so high it was unusable during the transfer but it maxed it out to the ability of the hard drive (so less than 480mbps but still high)

i hear that firewire has lower CPU usage
