How To Make Av500 .avi Files From Imovie?
« on: December 06, 2006, 03:53:12 am »
I am on a Mac, & am making movies with iMovie.  I tried exporting as AVI, put it on the AV500..won't play.

"audio & video is not interleaved"

Does this mean the audio is mixed with the video on the same track?

I recall trying to import .avi videos from a digital camera to iMovie (where the audio & video are "multiplexed"), & the video has no audio.  I had to use a special program to translate it, before importing into iMovie.

Anyone have a solution?

Hello.  Can I try to help?  (By no means an expert and very new to all this.)  I would use Lathe to create the avi file.  Of if you already have an avi file, open Lathe and select your avi and re-encode it.   If you don't want to pay for Lathe to test to see if it works, maybe try the prior free version called PocketDivxEncoder (I never tried this one, as it seemed to have more steps and I wanted a one-click process).

Just my suggestion.  If I could get your sample file I'd try it for you and see that it works on my AV500.

Good luck.

Hi, I ended up using PocketDivXEncoder.

I just take the exported iPod videos (.m4v) from iMovie, & import them into PocketDivXEncoder.  Very nice program.

The AV500 is a very nice playback device, bright screen & sharp imagery.
