Battery Powered Usb Hub?
« on: September 07, 2008, 12:50:33 am »
I have a usb device that requires more power when pluged into the zaurus. I still need to be mobile so I'm wondering if there are any goot battery powered usb hubs out there that will add the extra power needed to allow powered usb devices to work?  Does anyone know of any?

If you are hardware hacker, you may modify your Zaurus to support 500mA (for 2.6 kernels you also need to increase kernel power budget from 180 to 500). It's just one resistor replacement: www.iral.com/~albertr/linux/zaurus/wireless/

I ended up getting this one and it works great! Seemed to be the only battery powered one out there.

All you need  is 5 Volts (max)  connected to the USB power pin.  This lthiuem-battery produces 4 volts and it seems to be
sufficient to power most power-hungry devices I have.

-- It is of course removable. It is one of my camera batteries. I have chargers, also a solar charger for that.
