Relocating Firefox Cache To External Storage
« on: June 08, 2007, 01:54:45 pm »
I'm guessing that firefox currently stores the cache on the flash, if this is the case is it possible to relocate the cache to the SD card instead with the current build (1.5.0.2) of FF for pdaxrom?

EDIT: On a slightly unrelated note, is there a place where I can download the flash plugin that will work with this version of FF?

If you find the folder where FF is caching stuff, it should be easy to move it to external media and symlink it back to where it was. I just have it installed on my microdrive, so it (should) be caching there.

As for Flash, I don't think it's available for pdaXrom.

After trying a number of things and looking just about everywhere, I've given up for now. I tried changing settings in about:config, looking for the profile folder (apparently there is none), looking for a cache folder. Even when I do enable the disk cache and set a browser.cache.disk.parent_directory setting to say "/mnt/card/ffcache" it never uses that directory to store anything, even after manually setting browser.cache.memory.enable to false. I'm guessing it's set up to use only memory cache, similar to Opera on Cacko. Bummer

Flash is available for pdaXrom, but I could never get it to work with Firefox. Search for gplfash. Meanie also had an ipk for flash on pdaXrom, but I couldn't get it to work (with the flash plugin firefox would crash any time I accessed a page with flash).
Conics SL-C3200 running pdaXrom beta3 and XFCE with a Planex WiFi CF card.

I believe both Firefox and Mozilla store everything config, cache, etc in ~/.mozilla. I have mine symlinked to a directory on the HDD.
