Oh Man! I haven't this much fun with my Zaurus since Meanie made IceWM the default in pdaXii13. Yes, I can be a total geek at times. Tons of eye candy and decent GUI performance.
I found a workaround to the USB module unload lock ups when I request reboots and shutdowns in E17. Choose Log off instead and once X unloads I then type reboot and it restarts fine.
I found that Gnumeric is also installed on this ROM by default.
Aki_Rose (MayDew developer) has posted how to remove his Korean customizations on his blog. The instructions are here.
I haven't had a chance to try them yet but once I do I will post back here.
Aki_Rose has also joined OESF and I requested his validation.

Glad to hear he is signing on here.
What kind of resource use did e17 have? It is damned pretty, and if it isn't too terrible of a pig and it doesn't do horrid things it might make a nice option. Any other bits maydew has improved on?
Of course, I'm feeling pretty conservative about having my Z actually work for me these days so I'm mainly interested in in how maydew improvements can be brought into pdaxii13 (and eventually a 2.6 pdaxrom when it works as solidly as ii13)

e17 is still very much a work in progress but, it has come a long way usability wise since I tried it last November. To make things as fair as possible for the resource comparisons. I install Meanie's pdaxcfg 0.3.6 on MayDew. Both machines are set to an extended 121MB root partition. These results were taken after rebooting both machines. Below are the results for my 1000 running MayDew RC1 and my 3200 running pdaXii13 Akita with a Full image upgrade to 5.4.6 (IceWM)
..............................MayDew RC1.........pdaXii13 Akita Full 5.4.6
Free Memory...........13932KB...............1220KB
Cached Memory.......0KB......................32KB
Flash Available.........25.2MB.................47.5MB
As you can see e17 has a smaller memory footprint but, it is not running as many services and daemons as pdaXii13 (eg. no cards applet). The flash usage under MayDew appears to be larger but, you must keep in mind that my 3200 is setup with usr on the microdrive and therefore most of the large binaries (like firefox) are not installed in flash on my 3200 whereas all binaries are installed in flash (including firefox).
I'm too lazy to stopwatch on various apps.
Firefox load times are comparable between the two once MayDew copy is configured with the same settings.
ScummVM appears to have a slight advantage speedwise under MayDew but, that is only noticeable when running The Curse of Monkey Island's cutscenes.
e17 loads up faster than iceWM but, a large portion iceWM is running off of the microdrive.
e17 doesn't work with the ROX pinboard (no drag and drop desktop) or the matchbox applets (no cards or wifi monitor) so you do loose some functionality. e17s power management is minimal compared to pdaXii13 so the battery is goes down much faster.
I would say MayDew RC1 is roughly equivalent to Meanie's early pdaXii13 builds. If he keeps at it he should get closer to the 5.4.6 level in a very short time. This is, IMHO, an excellent first release. I hope that answers your questions.
