Where to learn about building ipks for pdaxrom?
« on: March 13, 2004, 04:52:38 pm »
I\'m going to need to learn how to build .ipks for an 860 running pdaxrom1.0. I\'m interested in starting simple, mostly with non-gui python extensions. Unlike pure python modules, these need to be compiled with gcc against python headers. If it makes sense, I\'d even put some pure-python modules into ipks, just for ease of deployment. And then there\'s the questions of building an up to date python 2.3.3 and putting it in an ipk, if no one\'s done it already.

Where can I read up on how to properly build .ipks for pdaxrom? I want to get the SDK and cross compiler set up, I probably can practice builds before the zaurus is here, right? My host system is gentoo linux with kernel-2.6.3 and gcc-3.3.3.

Thanks.

There is documentation right here on the ZUG on how to build an IPK. they are the exact same as all the other IPK\'s (with the exception of OZ\'s ipk\'s which are AR format instead of tar.gz). Look in the How-to section of the ZUG for now untill Laze gets some docs up on our site.

why keep it a secret? tell more
I am just as curious. I would like to port ruby (quite easy actually) and a couple of small command line utilities but... with this news I guess I will wait and see.

Keep up the good work. The X11rom is great stuff for the devs in most of us zaurus users.
