Rotate Doesn't Rotate
« on: November 21, 2007, 01:34:07 am »
Well, I'm stumped.  I have searched as best I know how through this forum and still have not found exactly what I wanted.

I did a fresh install of pdaXii13 on my SLC3200.  Install went without a snag.  I wiped the drive as I was using OpenBSD on it before.  I am using IceWM as I did the last time I had pdaXrom on the machine (a beta version).  It worked under the beta.

Anytime I change the panel from PDA mode (portrait) to laptop(landscape) (for lack of a better description) nothing happens.  It starts up  in portrait and stays there.  I looked at the sysconfig directory and the scripts located there, even tried to execute them, but nothing happens but a bit of hard drive activity.  The rotate menu item on the start menu also does not rotate.  The rotate.sh script does not work either, even with the force parameter.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

OK, more info... I blew it all away and installed the r198 version.  It rotates!  When I execute the scripts in the /etc/sysconfig/clamshell directories, they come back with MODEL: C3200 as it should.  I went back to the pdaXi13 version and the scripts do nothing and return MODEL: unknown.

Sure wanted to run the Xii13, but looks like until someone figures it out, or I figure it out I will go back to R198 and add the extras.

Not really an answer, but the openbox on iiXv2 is more recent than icewm-- you might try doing the v2 upgrade and runing openbox before you swtich roms.

Well, I'm running pdaXii13 on my C3200 without troubles.  What did you install?

I first installed the full version of the OS by flashing the rom, formatting the disk and installing the full HD image.  The version is pdaXii13 Akita (Sally) downloaded from http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/pdaXii13/files/.  Install went without a hitch and system booted up fine... except that the initial screen was in portrait mode and would not rotate at all.

So, I re-flashed the rom to the Base install, but kept the full HDImage just for grins to see what it would do.  It too installed perfectly and the screen came up correctly in landscape.  And stays in landscape unless I manually change it via the rotate menu button.

Personally, I'm still thinking I have the wrong files somehow.  Everyone I have had contact with has had great results, so I'm still figuring some lame problem on my part.  I do have the network working and it is cool to be sitting in my living room watching a movie and have this little computer answering emails and surfing.
