Wireless Which Doesn't Stick Out
« on: December 30, 2007, 08:57:49 pm »
Dear Z users,

I am a sl-c3200 user and wish to know if there are any wireless cards, either SD or CF, which do not stick out of their slot at all?
This would be nice because its not very convenient to take these cards out all the time. I don't mind if the range is not that good.
Any suggestions?

thanks

You can't use SDIO cards in the Zaurus (SD wireless, bluetooth, etc.), and there are no CF cards that don't stick out at all (for Wi-Fi, that is). Sorry.

the only choice you have is how MUCH they stick out. My mercury zonet zcf 1100 sticks out by, er, about five mm... but some are much much bigger. I think there's a wiki entry somewhere.

Only 5mm!?

Damn - I want one!

Oh well. I'll be replacing my Z with an x86 MID sometime this year anyway...

Yeah, does anyone have an idea where to find this Zonet card nowadays?

It's the single thing stopping me buying a C3100/3200 as an upgrade from my Clie TH55. Clunky CF wireless antennas turn the device from pocketable into damageable...

have you considered using bluetooth PAN? works for me, easier on the battery too. Just need a linux box doing "pand -listen", a bit of iptables/masquerade and voila. Windows ICS will do that too.  I think we're been through this before?
