May Have A Problem Charging Battery, Sl-c1000
« on: March 03, 2008, 05:28:17 pm »
After flashing to PDAxrom r198 I now find that the battery charging light lights up for several seconds when i plug into AC adapter then goes out. Battery indicator in system tray is active and giving the impression that charging is taking place but when i pull the AC the battery icon never shows an increase in charge or reaches 100%. Will leave it plugged in tonight and check it again in the morning but at the moment there definitely seems to be a problem

This was not a problem with the original ROM.

Cheers

on a semi-related note, has any one seen any degradation in battery life using pdaXii13? I may be forgetting, but I seem to recall better battery life under the original Sharp ROM. After installing pdaXii13, even after changing the battery, more than 75% get drained in an hour or so - even more if I am using the Ambicom wireless card.

I don't use pdaXii13 - just plain beta 3 + LOTS of fixes and package updates ... nothing looks like the original after i'm finished with it

The ambicom eats juice, certainly- but battery life seems ok to me. Not to say that I couldn't always use more, and that automatic processor scaling wouldn't delight me, but I get better than an hour out of 75%. With wifi that sounds about right, though.

Okay have installed beta 3 last night but still having problems. I left my Z fully charged according to the meter and closed the lid but left it unplugged overnight and this morning when i tried to turn it on nothing happened. Plugged in the AC still nothing, left it for about 20 mins and it eventually kicked into life and booted up. Unplugged it and again checked battery meter and it said 100%. Left it switched on and came back about 15 mins later to a blank screen same problem again. I really doubt this this a battery issue as its been fine until now

Thanks

Is this the backlight setting problem?  In cacko, if I leave the backlight at lowest settings and resume from a suspend, the backlight does not come back, but the system is actually running.

Well I have now moved to PdaXii13, and so far its problem free. But since i know nothing about LInux I am using my or will be using my desktop as a learning tool and the Z as a novelty to explore the world of Linux
